...At least in the US. Spotted on post by the German Army liason building. Some soldiers saw me taking a picture and all looked at me odd for how excited I was.

Oooh, a 156!

They are actually becoming a little rare.

There are still quite a few Alfa 156s available in the U.K. (50 on Autotrader + 11 Sportwagons).

Wow! What a find! Many consider the 156 hideous for an Alfa but I just love all the little styling cues that tie it back to its ancestors, like the little vents that surround the triangular grille.

And a whole 5 years before it’s actually legal here. Someone likes to live dangerously.

No. It’s most likely a German officers’ car (where it was parked) and legal for them to have here as long as they take it back when they're done here.

Would they have to register it in Texas though?

It has Texas plates so I assume so. It was on post so it might be restricted to on post. I really don't know the legality I just have known some foreign officers whose country pays for their cars to be shipped here and they never have any problems. There is a TX registration place on post that might help too.

You’re right, I think they can only keep the foreign tags on if they’re here for 12 months or less, after that, they would have to get temporary tags. The question would be if those are temporary or regular Texan plates.

Alfa 156 club represent!

I daily a 2.5l V6. A bit more front-heavy than the 2.0l T-Spark, but it makes a hell of a noise and is a lovely little engine :)

In Australia these aren’t very rare. But they’re just as hideous.

I hate these cars.
